Academic Bio
I did my undergrad and Masters at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where I gained an appreciation for biological kinetics and thermodynamics through my teaching and research. I then came to Washington University in Saint Louis for my PhD in the lab of Eric Galburt, using kinetic approaches to understand the process of bacterial gene regulation. I am currently a PostDoc at WashU in labs of Eric Galburt and Andrea Soranno, studying unique aspects of transcription in mycobacteria using single molecule approaches. As I have been extremely fortunate with the opportunities presented before me, continuing my academic career, it's my intent to provide mentorship to those historically underrepresented in the sciences while exploring novel aspects of molecular biophysics.
